The Pharmacy Application System Administrator role will support the pharmacy and collaborate with the IT team.  Provides a mid to low level of support (testing, integration and implementation) of applications and interfaces which deliver IT tools and support business functions across the pharmacy.  Performs project management requirements definitions, and problem resolution and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates requests and consults in design for new or modified computer programs, solutions, reports and interfaces to determine feasibility and compatibility with current system. Assists with the identification and recommendations for solution development of larger and complex projects including best practice development. Formulates, develops, and documents required steps to achieve stated requirements. Reviews plans with management/peers as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains clear, understandable documentation to describe program development and modification, as well as troubleshooting. Updates system and support documentation as necessary to reflect changes to programs, solutions, reports and interfaces.
  • Updates management and others as appropriate on a timely basis regarding progress on assigned tasks, projects and issues, via written or oral reports. Responsible for program design and setup in the pharmacy system
  • Assists other IT teams with selection and provides operational evaluation of products / tools to ensure that the proposed solution adheres to business requirements. Adapts to new requirements and changing technologies in order to meet business standardization protocols and objectives. May provide guidance to staff and pharmacy management to ensure best practices, standard methodologies and processes are executed.
  • Functions as a technical resource to the pharmacy and maintains high service levels. Participates in system wide initiatives to improve efficiency and reach institutional goals and objectives.
  • Supports pharmacy program implementations through creation and design of pharmacy management system workflows, IVR flows and recordings, and other mid to low level technical support
  • Acts as resource and liaison between pharmacy operations and multiple external pharmacy support vendors
  • Perform Quality Assurance or UAT testing on automated technology specific to pharmacy and shipping requirements
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degrees or equivalent combination of education and related technical experience required
  • Two (2) years of previous pharmacy experience with exposure to all functional areas (order entry, medical records, filling, inventory, , etc.)
  • Advance knowledge of medical terminology (including sig codes and Roman numerals), brand and generic names of medications, and general pharmacy terminology
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • One (1) year of previous specialty pharmacy technician experience
  • Nationally certified through the PTCB or another approved certifying agency
  • Registered and licensed pharmacy technician by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy in good standing
  • Customer service evaluation and satisfaction experience
  • Knowledge of insurance procedures

  • Ability to work effectively in highly stressful situations, exhibiting flexibility in changing situations
  • Prioritizing initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Serving as a liaison between stakeholders and users.
  • Managing competing resources and priorities.
  • Monitoring deliverables and ensuring timely completion of projects.
