The HR Manager is responsible for the effective planning, coordination and management of Human Resources activities associated with corporate policies, organization effectiveness, performance management, employee relations, HR programs and initiatives, and talent acquisition for the assigned location(s). The HR Manager builds and maintains effective working relationships within the organization to drive organizational change and achieve sustained team effectiveness. The HR Manager works closely with management to recommend effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures and provide input to the future development of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure legal compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Coach and educate management and employees on HR guidelines, employee engagement, coaching and counseling improvement with performance and behavior, conflict resolution, and effective team interaction.
  • Address internal complaints through impartial investigation and fair and consistent treatment and application of policy related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other high-risk employment-related issues.
  • Assist with the formation and delivery of training, learning and development initiatives through partnership with Learning and Development.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support the recruiting process, including onboarding of permanent and temporary staff
  • Coordinate performance management, merit and competency assessment processes.
  • Coordinate and champion the organization’s employee engagement, appreciation, incentive and culture-based initiatives.
  • Represent HR on company committees (e.g., Environmental Sustainability, Safety, Quality, etc.).
  • Manage company-wide projects, programs and initiatives (e.g., OSHA recordkeeping, random drug testing, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with all company recordkeeping requirements.
  • Facilitate new hire and benefit orientation and open enrollment meetings.
  • Display comprehension of benefit plans to educate employees, respond to their questions and assist them with issues.
  • Administer FMLA, non-FMLA, ADA, and reasonable accommodation process.
  • Manage separation of employment and off-boarding/exit process.
  • Operate as a team player and provide support, share knowledge, and act as a back-up for other HR colleagues.
  • Responsibility for multiple locations; up to 20% domestic travel required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited university or college, or demonstrated equivalent related experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years work experience in an HR generalist role
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience in an HR leadership role
  • Experience with HRIS, ATS, LMS, and payroll systems
  • Proven ability to provide consistently high-quality of service
  • Must be legally authorized to work in United States without company sponsorship

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional designation as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • Previous experience with process development, labor relations, union avoidance and technology implementation/enhancement
